Project management & delivery
At MCL we differentiate between project management and project delivery.
Managing a project is essential - it's about making sure that the methodology and procedures are followed.
Delivering a project is needed too - and for MCL that means not just identifying the issues in a project but actively resolving them. This means working proactively with the project team and other business representatives to remove obstacles to successful project delivery.
We can apply PRINCE2 methodology or our own, more retail-orientated ADAIR, to deliver projects successfully, against the objectives, on budget and on time. ADAIR encompasses:
- Analyse : the end-to-end process and the current Method of Work/Best Practice
- Define : the client needs and identify how the system will support the revised and improved Best Practice
- Agree : the phased programme for implementation Ð including options for turnkey or traditional way of working
- Implement : the programme/system with/for the client and deliver the agreed benefits
- Review : and reinforce practice after an agreed period
Managing scope is also an important element of our project management and delivery. Our team can first help you to define the scope of the project and then deliver it. As far as they can, they won't let that scope creep during the lifecycle of the project, thus avoiding wasted time, effort and cost.
MCL has delivered big projects and small ones. And we usually plan medium to large projects in phases, with deliverables and benefits at each phase - typically 20 to 40 days - rather than long (100+ day) projects that have to be completed before benefits are realised.
These benefits could include:
- early changes to processes
- using functionality in existing software that hadn't already been identified
- improved sourcing
- removing unnecessary work, documentation, etc
