Case study 4 - Website Delivery
Description:
Our client had a Web site that was in need of revision, both creatively and technically. They had employed a corporate branding agency to come up with new templates and functionality but they needed to work closely with an implementation partner to implement the new site. They needed copywriting skills, as well as co-ordination and technical skills.
MCL's analysis:
The client was very focused on its business and had a low overhead approach to it. This meant that there was no-one "spare" within the organisation to be able to create and/or co-ordinate all of the new content. They needed a single team to be able to:
- Write the copy
- Source the images
- Use the content management system (CMS) to update the content
- Liaise with other service providers for the site to integrate their content
- Come up with ideas and solutions to the common challenges faced
In short, the client wanted a new site but didn't have dedicated people to deliver it.
Traditional way of addressing these problems:
Option 1 - try to manage the implementation in-house, which will either distract the client
from their core business or slow the implementation right down - or both
Option 2 - throw money at the problem by asking the branding agency to deliver the work
MCL's solution:
MCL planned and delivered a programme of services comprising
- Setting up and maintaining channels of communication with all parties on the project
- Interviewing key senior personnel within the company to understand their objectives and requirements
- Analysed the results, wrote the copy and guided the client on image selection
- Re-formatted the images
- Populated the CMS with copy and images
- Identified and resolved problems with content, services and process
- Created, documented and presented the update process for the client and other service providers
